| Class Description | Course Learning Outcomes:
The objective of this course is to provide exposure to the use and management of online and social media technology in business, education, entertainment and daily life. After successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
* Explain how social media technologies can be leveraged by businesses to reach a desired audience, and to positively influence the traditional media.
* Describe the opportunities and challenges an organization must consider when planning to the deliver media content online.
* Explain the privacy concerns associated with social technologies, and effectively address them from both an individual and organizational perspective.
* Use a social media tool (or combination of tools) to effectively reach out to an audience.
* Describe the evolution of digital audio and video content, and how it has converged with social technologies to form online communities.
* Compare and evaluate the competing file formats, standards and delivery options for media content.
* Create original digital video content, and leverage social media communities to reach an audience.
* Describe key concepts associated with the management of digital media assets.
* Explain the arguments for and against the use of digital rights management technology to protect intellectual property rights, and how the current environment affects business use.
* Make reasonable and well-supported predictions about emerging trends in social media technology. |
